Black Rhinos Now Extinct
CN Reports the Western Black Rhino is now Extinct due to poaching and hunters. This subspecies of the African rhinoceros was last seen in 2006, and has been officially declared extinct. Well organized crime syndicates feed the black market to this day with rhino horn. Rhino poaching increased 50% between 2011 and 2012, killing nearly 2,400 rhinos. The dwindling white rhino population is estimated at only 20,000.
